BIOGRAPHY

Richard Joseph Hermsen III has lived in Eatonville, WA his whole life. The first time he picked up a pair of drumsticks was at the age of 8. He received some lessons from his uncle for about a year. Rich would spend almost everyday after school practicing on his uncle’s drum set. In a couple years, Rich joined up with his friends Jason and Zach. They formed the band Lifeline. Rich spent about 4 years with Lifeline until the day he met the "greatest guitarist he had ever seen," Mark Guthrie. Lifeline had invited Mark to play with them because they needed some extra spark to their music. That is just what Mark did. Lifeline broke up after some members made decisions that would reflect their dedication to the band. Rich wanted more than playing in a garage. Rich got a call from his friend’s brother, and they asked him to play the drums for his band, Threshold. Rich joined Threshold for about 6 months. Still it wasn’t what Rich was looking for…Finally Rich got a call from Mark during his freshman year at college. Rich knew that Mark had the dedication and talent that would make a band go somewhere. Rich came home that summer and recorded drums in Mark’s studio…Rich loved what he heard. The band was starting to take off, and he knew he had finally found somebody that loved playing music as much he did. Turner Core was born, and they released their debut album “Dimension” in September of 2003. Rich realized all those days of practice are finally paying off, and the love for playing the drums just continues to grow.
